Definition
UK, US, and USSR met at Yalta. Decided that USSR would help fight Japan and gain Asian territories. Decided that UN would be created. USSR gained control over Eastern European nations.

Definition
Germany was disarmed and the war industry was stopped. Western Germany was put under French, UK, and US control and USSR took the east. Berlin (in the east) was also divided.

Any European nation could get money from the US to rebuild as long as they spent the money on American goods. USSR rejected the money and the American economy skyrocketed.

Definition
USSR cut off all power to the Western part of Berlin. US sent tons and tons of goods to help the people of Western Berlin, making the US look good and USSR look bad.

Union of European nations and America. America gave aid to all member nations, and if the USSR attacked any member, then every member would attack the USSR.

USSR response to NATO. Member nations included all countries along the Iron curtain and Albania.

Commies helped Chiang Kai Shek gain power. Nationalists didn't follow through on land reform, so commies and nationalists fought. The two briefly united during WWII against Japan, and the communists took power. US gave nationalists $3 billion to stop communism, but nationalists still lost.

US and USSR tried to build more and more weapons than the other nation.

Definition
North attacks south; UN ground troops get destroyed, airforce does some damage. MacArthur thought he could reunite Korea, but then China stepped in and destroyed MacArthur. Truman fired MacArthur, and then Ike took office. War made congress agree to give more money for the defense budget.

Definition
Eisenhower reformed the military so there was more of an air force and more nukes, while decreasing the number of navy personal. Massive retaliation refers to an instant nuclear attack on the USSR if the USSR attacked any country. America also got military bases and nukes into 43 other countries.

Definition
The policy left the US with two choices: all out nuclear war or do nothing. The first option would probably end the world, and the second would make the US look bad.
