From the moment he woke up, Tom was thinking about basketball. He went downstairs and ate a healthy breakfast so he would have a lot of energy for practice in the morning. He went up to his room and went over the video of his last game and how he could improve his game. While heading to practice he was very focused and was thinking about how he would be able to show his coach that he improved and studied the tape he gave him. When he arrived at practice, he was the first one there and he shot around for about a half hour, even before the coach got there. He was working on everything that he messed up the game before, and he was slowly becoming a better shooter. All of his hard work started paying off as he was getting more playing time every game.

During the conference finals, he ended the game scoring the last 10 points for his team and scored the game winning basket to lift his team to a victory. The local newspaper reporter walked up to him after his tremendous performance to ask him how he did it. Joe then replied, “Well, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.” He then went on to say, “They were the ones that did everything to help make my shots and get rebounds and defensive stops, we wouldn’t have one if it wasn’t a team effort.” |
