Intro: Patron of the arts

Thesis: Yes, created the French classicism style, based on Greek and Roman antiquity as well as his own personal tastes so as to reflect the power and splendor of the sovereign and the state -> the most influential powers in Europe
Ex: East front of Louvre: end of 17th C, pays homage to Greek and Roman Classical style- Columns are classical order, roofs are flat, etc.
Ex: Ceilings in Versailles, Veux de Vicomte, painting of Alexandre the Great entering Arcadia
EX: decorative splendor inside Versailles Hall of Mirrors
