• acquired early in development

• /p/, /t/, /b/, /d/, /k/ /g/
• labials first, they can see them and feel them
• initially don't produce distiniciton between voiced and unvoiced cognates

• labiodental fricatives /f/ much earlier than other fricatives
• voiced /v/ later
• not a strong order for other fricatives

• usually late
• often reduced to single phoneme
• cluster reduction
• frequent error
  • /s/ blend- /sl/-> s, /sk/-> k
  • /k/ comes before /l/ or /s/, it's an earlier developing sound
