Term
What are the two main processes of photosynthesis? |
|
Definition
light reactions
dark reactions (calvin cycle) |
|
|
Term
what are the steps of the light reactions |
|
Definition
- photons of light hit the chlorophyl molecules in PII680
- Meanwhile two H20 molecules are split to put 2 electrons (e-)in the PII680 molecule
- When the light energy hits the two e- they are excited and leave the PII680
- 2e- go to a PQ molecule
- 2e- pass through a hydrogen pump/cytochrome and pump H+ into the thylakoid space
- 2e- go to PII700 where photons excite them again
- go to Fd molecule
- Pass through NADP reductase-->NADPH
- A hydrogen gradient synthesizes ATP from ADP
