With respect to your body, what is the sterile field?
Definition
As long as you have not touched anything that is not sterile once you have your gloves on, the sterile field is what is directly in front of you, from your shoulders to your hips.

Definition
instruments = sharps container. saturated w/ body fluids = biohazard bag. anything else = trashcan.

Definition
Pick up the handle of the scalpel and slide the blade intot he cap without touching the cap. Pressit down on the table to secure the cap.

How would you score thick eschar with a scalpel?
Definition
Make horizontal and vertical lines over the infected area making boxes. (Can be done before whirlpool or soaking.)

How would you debride thick eschar with a scalpel?
Definition
use w/ forceps. Hold tissue that needs to be cut off w/ forceps, then cut infected tissue off close to origin. Keep the scalpul angle on the same plane as the tissue you're debriding. Hold scalpel like you would a pencil.

Definition
Holding necrotic tissue for easier removal, and also to remove necrotic tissue by picking.

Definition
You use them to clean the edges of the wound or to remove larger pieces of tissue w/ the help of forceps.
