Definition
Spinal nerves C2 & C3 and Cranial V, VII & X
Term
Sensory Receptors

Proprioceptors - where are they found and what do they do?
Definition
deeper tissues like fascia, muscles, joint capsules, tendons and ligaments. Communicate broad range of input re: position in space and various loads in the musculoskeletal system.
Term
Sensory Receptors

Pacinian Corpusles - what do they do?
Definition
Respond to vibration, brief pressure and distortion
Term
Sensory Receptors

Muscle Spindles - What do they do?
Definition
Monitor Length and change in length of muscles. tell them to contract in response to new load placed on them.
Term
Sensory Receptors

Golgi tendon Organs - What do they do?
Definition
Communicate tension - change in tension on a muscle. They tell muscles to relax; too much tension could tear them.
Term
Sensory Receptors

Gamma fibers- where are they and What do they do?
Definition
From the spinal cord, tighten or loosen muscle spindles, providing another layer of control Brain impulse sent through gamma fibers make muscle spindles throughout the body, making us "feel tense all over." They do the opposite when we are relaxed
