a. step by step: this method is used to teach marching movements. the instructor will direct the demonstrator to only take one step and to stop in positio nun il the next command of execution is given. this allows the instructor to make on the spot corrections and to explain the actions to be taken on the next step.

b. talk through: this method is used to teach actions that require numerous or simultaneous actions by an individual or a unit. each movement or action by the individual is executed as the instructor orally describes it.
