Metacognitive Knowledge is the knowledge about our own individual thinking process. This knowledge allows us to understand our comprehension level and our problem solving abilities.

Metacognitive abilities can differ amongst individual's ages, as well as individual's learning experiences. Some students may develop higher metacognitive abilities at a younger age. While others may have lacked the the learning experiences to develop a strong Metacognitive knowledge.

Learning Strategies are the procedural knowledge of using tools to develop a desired knowledge. By using strategies, students can become more succesful at certain tasks or at knowing specific information.

Why is Creativity important in the classroom?

Creativity is important because using creativity shows the students that there are multiple ways to find a solution or to learn information. If a student is stuggling to learn the same way as everyone else, maybe he or she just need to try a new strategy.

A math teacher could teach the class that 2+4=6. This would would develop convergent thinking for the students. The teacher could also teach the students that there are many different ways to get the number six; _ +/-_=6. This type of teaching develops Divergent thinking and promotes creativity.
