MOI: FOOSH or valgus force on the thumb. Limits the opposition of the thumb and decreases grip strength.
S&S: Pain along ulnar aspect of MCP joint, hinders ability to forefully pinch or grasp smaller objects, swelling, ecchymosis, PT over the UCL, Pain and strength deficit during opposition.
Treatment: Depends on severity, incomplete- thumb spica splint. complete-surgery within 3 weeks |
