Separation is from 1 - 4 hours. If building has an automated sprinkler system, hourly rating can usually be reduced by 1 hour. |

A space or room used in conjunction with the main occupancy but that does not exceed 10% of the floor area of the main occupancy. Accessory occupancies do not need to be separated with a fire barrier (example, gift shop in a hospital). |

An area that accompanies the main occupancy that might normally be considered an accessory occupancy by is not because of special,potentially dangerous conditions (boiler room). Must be separated from main occupancy by 1 hour fire barrier or have automated sprinkler system. |
