REPORTING ALLEGATIONS TO INTEGRITY |

Should members of the Sheriff’s Office become aware of corruption allegations, those members shall contact either their immediate supervisor or the Integrity & Special Investigations Unit directly. If contacted, the immediate supervisor shall assess the credibility of the information and, if the information seems credible, shall contact the Integrity & Special Investigations Unit. |

NUISCANCE TELEPHONE CALLS & INTERGRITY |

Definition
1. Misdemeanor violations and/or threats to commit such crimes are violations of Florida State Statute (F.S.S.) 365.10 “Obscene or Harassing Telephone Calls” which requires: a. The officer investigating the call to complete a General Offense/Incident Report;b. If the suspect is known to the victim and solvability factors exist, then the incident shall be classified as an MCI "Category A" offense. The investigating officer will treat this case as an MCI Office follow up case. c. If the suspect is not known to the victim and the call is of a threatening, harassing or obscene nature, the General Offense/Incident Report will be routed to the Integrity Unit; and d. If the call is a nuisance in nature (i.e., hang ups, heavy breathing, children playing on the telephone, etc.), there is no pattern to the calls, and they are not repeatedly being received by the victim, a report is not required. The telephone subscriber will be instructed to contact the AT&T Annoyance Call Bureau at 1-800-288-2020 to file a complaint. |

Definition
The “Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000” (TVPA) and F.S.S. 787.06 define severe forms of human trafficking in persons as: (1) Sex trafficking in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age; or (2) The recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion, for the purpose of subjecting that person to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery. b. In addition to the above criteria, the federal TVPA now makes provisions allowing domestic (non-immigrant) citizens to be classified as trafficking victims. |

(1) All requests or questions related to U VISAS will be forwarded to the International Affairs Unit (630-0914) for initial review. (2) The International Affairs Unit will review all requests by pulling appropriate reports, and contacting the investigating detective or patrol officer. (3) The International Affairs Unit will review each request on an individual basis and forward its recommendation to the Sheriff or his designee for final approval. |

The TVPA of 2000 provides a means for non-citizen victims in the U.S. to apply for a special visa if they have been the victim of Human Trafficking. b. Adult victims (18 years of age or older) must apply for a T-Visa. Requests for certification letters will be handled in the following manner: (1) All requests or questions related to T-Visa will be forwarded to the ISIU for review. (2) The ISIU will review the request and determine if the person is a victim of Human Trafficking.
