Seeks to gain or regain contact with the enemy and develop the situation. It allows the CMDR to make initial contact with the enemy with minimum force thereby avoiding an extensive engagement or battle before he is prepared for decisive action. |

Definition
Operation that usually follows a successful attack is designed to disorganize the enemy in depth. The exploitation extends the initial success of the attack by preventing the enemy from disengaging, withdrawing, and reestablishing an effective defense. |
