Ise shu (Page from book of poems mounted as hanging scroll) Later Heian period, c 1100. Ink, silver and gold ink on paper with collage of colored papers. Ise is name of poetess. Mason # 136.

 

Illustration (painting) of Minori –The Rites—chapter from Tale of Genji scrolls (emaki) early 12th C (later Heian) Based on novel by Lady Murasaki from previous century. Genji visits the dying Murasaki. Ink and color on paper. Mason # 141.
