Frederick III (Elector) Wanted to be King. However, according to Germanic law at that time, no kingdoms could exist within the Holy Roman Empire, with the exception of the Kingdom of Bohemia.
Leopold I, Archduke of Austria and Holy Roman Emperor, was convinced by Frederick to allow Prussia to be ruled as a kingdom. This agreement was given in exchange for an alliance against King Louis XIV of France in the War of the Spanish Succession.

Definition
French minister of war and foreign affairs under Regent Marie de' Medici. He sought to consolidate royal power and crush domestic factions, by restraining the power of the nobility, he transformed France into a strong, centralized state. Fired by Louis XIII once Louis became King, eventually he worked his way back up and He and Louis became BFF's.

Like his predecessor Cardinal Richelieu, this guy ruled as the Chief Minister of France under Regent Anne of Austria. The fronde started while he was away at the peace of Westphalia. Basically co-ruled with Anne of Austria. They were veryyyy close. But any sexual stuff was just a rumor made by pro-fronde people.

Issued in 1598 by Henry IV, gave the Huguenots many rights. separated civil from religious unity, opened a path for secularism and tolerance. Brought some peace and religious tolerance in France until it was revoked in 1685 by Louis XIV

Treaty of Utrecht
Definition
Signed in 1713, registered the defeat of French ambitions expressed in the wars of Louis XIV and preserved the European system based on the balance of power. Ended the war of Spanish Succession. Allowed for the Bourbons to reign in Spain which was what Charles II of Spain had wanted in his will after all. The french lost a lot of territory and power. Spain ceded Gibraltar and Minorca to Great Britain and agreed to give to the British the Asiento, a valuable monopoly slave-trading contract. Most importantly, this treaty allowed for the maintenance of the balance of power.

decisive victory of Peter I of Russia over the Swedish forces in one of the battles of the Great Northern War. It is widely believed to have been the beginning of Sweden's decline as a Great Power; the Russians took their place as the leading nation of northern Europe. This also meant the rise of Imperial Russia. Sweds get rocked.
