Term
What does it mean when sides are proportional? How can you find this out? |
|
Definition
-It means that if you multiply all the sides in a triangle, you will get the sides in the other triangle. This is a way to find out if two triangles are similar.
-You can do this by setting up any of the three: soh , cah, or toa then find the same thing for the other triangle and if the one with the bigger sides reduces to the other one, then the triangles are similar. |

-What is the equation that relates cosine, tan, and sine together?
-What's the equation that relates consine, cotangent, and sine together? |
|
Definition
sin(angle)/cos(angle)=tan(angle) and cos(angle)/sin(angle)=cotangent(angle) or 1/tan

Term
-How do you find the side measures of a 45-45-90 degree triangle?
-How do you find the side measures of a 30-60-90 triangle? |
|
Definition
-The opposite and adjacent angles will be the same and the hypotenuse will be the square root of 2. (think of it as:there's a 2 in the square root because there are only two different options at to what the sides can be since the opp. and adj. sides are equal.)
-the shortest side will have a measure of 1, you will multiply this by 2 to get the hypotenuse and multiply the shortest side by the square root of 3 to get the other side. |
