Ulnar nerve

primary:  flexion of PIP joints

secondary:  assists with wrist flexion and MCP flexion

Median nerve

primary:

flexion of DIP joints

Secondary:

assists in PIP flexion, wrist flexion, and MCP flexion

Median nerve: digits 2 and 3

Ulnar nerve: digits 3, 4, and 5

Primary: thumb flexion at IP joint

Secondary:

assists with flexion of MP and CMC of thumb, and wrist flexion

Secondary:  assists in abduction of the thumb

opposes the thumb (Pulls it across palm) and flexion of CMC joint

Located between MCs.

3 palmar:

adduction of fingers, helps flex MC joints, helps extend PIP joints

4 dorsal:

abducts fingers, assists in flexion of MC joints, assists in extension of PIP and DIP joints

Ulnar nerve

4 separate muscles.

Flexion of MC joints.

Extension of PIP and DIP joints

Median---1st and 2nd muscles

Ulnar---3rd and 4th muscles

extends the wrist and abducts the fingers.  It is the prime mover of finger extension.
