Term
What is the purpose of the VOR? |
Definition
Maintain stable vision during head movement. |
Term
Follow the pathway of nerve impulses and eye reaction when the head turns R, and you want to focus on something straight ahead. |
Definition
Endolymph deflects cupula L when head turns R. R Crista hair cells deflect toward the kinocilium, and the L hair cells deflect away from the kinocilium, causing the R crista to excite and L to inhibit. These nerve reactions go through tracts in teh brain stem to the oculomotor nuclei to activate the R medial rectus and L lateral rectus. This results in eye movement to the L. |
