Abnormal accumulation of fluid (CSF) in the brain
If circulation of CSF in the brain or spinal cord is impaired it accumulates under pressure in the ventricles of the brain. to relive presssure of the rain a catheter is places from the ventricle of the brain into the peritoneal space ( ventriculopetrioneal shunt) so that the CSF is continuously drained from the brain. Hydrocephalus can also occur in an adult as a result of tumors or infections |
