When given late in pregnancy it may cause premature closure of the fetal ductus arterious, prolong labour and delay birth due inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. It can increase bleeding time in the newborn and the mother due to the antiplatelet effects. |

Warfarin is normally 98% bound to plasma protein albumin leaving 2% active with plasma. Aspirin has high affinity for albumin and displaces warfarin increasing warfarin available for effect. |
