1. What is Al-Qaeda?- Al-Qaeda is a strongly anti-western Islamic worldwide terrorist organization that was founded by Osama Bin Laden.
2. Describe the events that occured in the United States on Septembder 11, 2011.- In the United States on September 11, 2001 nineteen terrorists who had been hiding armed themselves and highjacked four passenger jets. Two planes were purposely crashed into the twin 110-storey towers of the World Trade Center. A third plane hit the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., at 9:40 am. The airport were all shut down, but a fourth jet had already taken off. It was planned to crash into the the White House or Capital building, but instead crashed into a corn field at 10:03 am after a struggle between passengers and highjackers. Nearly 3000 people were killed that day.
3. What happened after that?- On October 7th, 2001 persident George Bush called the attacks of war and led a coalition of countries to attack Afghanistan (where Osama Bin Laden lived and trained). In Pakistan on May 2nd, 2011 the U.S. commandos blasted their way into the home where Osama Bin Laden had been hiding and KILLED HIM. |
