At least one hour before you are scheduled to come in, you have to let your supervisor know that you will not be coming into work that day. During training, the persons are Megan and Emily, and when training is over, you must let your AD know. In my case this is Brandy. If Brandy does not answer, it is best to move up the "chain of command" until you get in touch with someone to let them know that you will not be there. |

|
Term
What is the difference between a drop and a withdrawal? Explain thoroughly as if the student did not know anything about the difference.Include this for online and residential students. |
|
Definition
To receive full credit, at minimum you need the following:
For an online student, a drop occurs before or sometimes after the start date so long as the student has not attended the course. The student is not charged tuition for a drop but may be assessed a portion of the military book voucher if applicable. They may also owe the Tech Fee if they drop below six credit hours for the semester. They may also owe the drop fee of 50.00 if they completed previous courses in the same semester but then ceased enrollment.
For an online student, a withdrawal occurs on or after the start date if the student completed course work or corresponded with the professor. For normal personal withdrawals, they are charged a percentage of tuition based on the date of withdrawal. They may also owe the 50.00 withdrawal fee. If they are only in one course, they may owe a percentage of the technology fee. They are not charged for a military book voucher even if they used it.
For residential students, they have a drop/add period during the first week of courses that they need to adhere to. After that period, it is considered a withdrawal. Because they are charged a flat rate of tuition based on part time/full time status, they are just charged the entire amount of tuition and it does not adjust. They may be assessed a withdrawal fee. They need to discuss everything with their advisor, registrar, and student accounts if they have questions. |

Explain thoroughly what happens to a student's military book voucher if he or she drops a course before the start date and is not charged a portion of the tuition. |
|
Definition
If a student drops a course and is not charged tuition because they did not attend, they will owe any military book voucher amount they spent back to the university. For example, if they have 200.00 in military book voucher and spend 150.00 of it but then drop the courses, they will owe the 150.00 back to the school. They can attempt to send the books back to receive a partial refund from MBS Direct, but if MBS Direct does not refund the entire amount, the student will owe the amount to LU. If they did not use any of the voucher, the book voucher is simply cancelled and zeroed out so the student does not owe anything. |

An FN is a Failure for non-attendance. The professor assigns an FN if the student has 21 or more consecutive days of non-activity in the course. The FN counts towards the GPA like an F. FNs cause students using GI BILL to be sent into debt management because they did not attempt to complete the course. The student will have to speak to the VA in regards to how much they will owe for the course. |

If a student using Tuition Assistance drops a course, what happens with the TA? Explain thoroughly as if you were explaining it to a student. |
|
Definition
If a student using Tuition Assistance drops a course, they are not charged tuition and therefore, we will not charge tuition to the education office. Therefore, if any TA was already paid we will send a refund to the education office. We would remove any TA from the student account that was applied for the dropped course because we are not billing for it. If they want to register for another course, they have to send in new TA for that specific course. |

If a student receives a student/personal withdrawal and uses Tuition Assistance, what happens with the TA? Explain thoroughly. (Include information such as but not limited to: Is the student recouped? How do we bill the military? Can the student use the TA again for another course? |
|
Definition
If a student withdrawals for personal reasons, we will charge the student a percentage of tuition based on the date of withdrawal. Therefore, we will bill Tuition Assistance for the amount we are charging. The student will then be recouped for the amount of TA paid to the school for the course, meaning they have to pay the education office back. We adjust the TA accordingly on the student account and if needed, we refund any overpayment back to the education office if they paid too much. If the student wants to use any TA for another course, they can't use what was spent toward the withdrawal. |

What happens with a student's GI BILL Chapter 1606 if they withdraw from their courses? What can they expect to happen? What does our office have to do? Explain thoroughly. |
|
Definition
If a student using Chapter 1606 withdraws, they can expect to go into debt management with the VA. The VA will send them a debt management letter specifying how much they owe the VA. The student will also owe Liberty for tuition towards the course so they may owe both LU and the VA. We must adjust the certification in VA Once to report the withdrawal to the VA no later than 30 days from the date of withdrawal. |
