Definition
It's used to DIAGNOSE renovascular HTN (elevated BP secondary to renal artery stenosis, the stenosis causes a reduction in renal artery pressure, and the body responds by stimulating the renin-angiotensin system, which constricts the efferent areteriole to resport the pressure) ACEI (Captopril) relaxes the efferent arteriole causing a drop in the stenotic kidney's filtration pressure and a reduced extraction of 99mTc-MAG3. |
