Origin: Some foreign substance that blocks blood flow in the pulmonary system
Matter that Causes: tumor, fat, bone, air, throbus, etc
Risk factors: age, smoking, surgery, immobility, fractures of long bones, vaginal delivery
S/S: SUDDEN Dyspnea, pleuretic chestpain, tachycardia, Cough
TX Goals: Keep O2 stat up! Blood thinners *Heparin & Coumadin= heparin- short term, apTT 1.5-2.5, 3-5 days
Coumadin- longer term start day 3ish- level btwn 2-3, watch INR w/coumadin Thrombolytics |
