On one side there is a hole used to mixed kohl. Narmer is featured on this stone because his scale is so much bigger compared to his kneeling enemies. He was the king that unified upper and lower Egypt. His name was represented by pictographs of a catfish (Nar) and saw (Mur). On either side, frontal heads of the cow goddess Hathor indicate that she guards the kings palace. Horus (falcon headded god) is also on the palette. The side that depicts the pharaoh wearing the red crown is called the lower egypt side. White crown is for upper Egypt. |
