5 Canons of Rhetoric
Definition

Foundation of all public Speeches

Developed by Aristotle

  1. Invention - Is finding a topic
  2. Arrangement - Arranging you speech in different parts, Organizing your speech so person can follow. Ex. Introduction, Body, Conclusion
  3. Style - is language you use to express your ideas, avoid technical language or Jargon
  4. Memory - when you practice your speech & you practice over & over again, you use key words to recall speech from memory, & deliver it Extemporaneously.
  5. Deliver - is all verbal & non verbal techniques we use when giving a speech. You will deliver speech in a effective manner.

  1. Dont overestimate what the Audience knows. Ex. Just cause you have that knowlege dont expect audience to share that same knowlege or pation. Computers, Baking

  3. Avoid being to technical Ex. stay away from jargon, use laymen terms
