Indicate and record how neutron flux is distributed between 58 selected fuel assemblies locations in the core. Obtained through out core life, used to confirm predicted core design parameters, used to detect control rods or fuel assemblies that are out of position and calibrate excore NIs for axial offset. |

Core Exit Thermocouples (CETs) |
|
Definition
Monitor 58 selected fuel assembly exit temperature using thermocouples inside incore flux mapping system flux thimbles. Temp Data along with other available info used to determine:
- Core radial power distribution
- Core enthalpy rise nuclear hot channel factors
- Core radial asymmetries
- Grossly mislocated control rods
- fuel assemblies out of position
- temp margin saturation (SMM)

Incore Flux Mapping System: monitoring capabilities only (Not Safety Related)
CET system: measurement of core exit temp during normal abnormal and post accident conditions, calc and display of temp margin to saturation, Safety related because of its function to supply data for inadequate core cooling determination |
