Initiate turbine load reduction ≤15%/min
Maintain TAVG on program by rods, Boration or Dilution, and turbine load
Energize PZR heaters (provide mixing of Boron, smoother pressure control)
Initiate boration to maintain rods > RIL
Transfer heating steam to another source or isolate Aux. building heating steam by shutting 1HS44
When <75% RTP stop 1 of 3 condensate pumps
When <49% verify below P-9 illuminated
When ≈40% stop all heater drain pumps; if MSR Drain Tank levels are unstable, send an operator to throttle HD9(s)
When <36% verify below P-8 illuminated
When <35% select one SGFP control to manual and reduce speed to idle
When <30% open the MS7s
When <100 MWe (~8%) stop turbine load reduction
When <20% transfer rods to manual, maintain TAVG on program, stop the BSCDT pumps, shut BF44, set AF21s to 0% and start MDAFW pumps Initiate IOP-5 or IOP-3
Evaluate steam dump availability
If unavailable, set MS10s to approximately equal SG pressure
If available, select MS pressure control mode with setpoint approximately equal SG pressure (done in preparation for turbine trip, MS pressure mode eliminates TAVG deadband)
Trip main turbine
Continue the power reduction using rods as required
When <10% verify P-10 extinguished and below P-7 illuminated
When <5% shut the GB4s, establish AF flow to each SG, maintain levels 33 ±5%, shut the BF19s and BF40s, reduce SGFP speed to idle (trip if required to control cooldown rate), shut the BF22s, stop all but 1 condensate pump
If the reactor is to remain critical, maintain reactor power ≤2%, TAVG 543-550°F, and rods > RIL
If a shutdown is required insert control and shutdown banks, ensure SRNIs energized at <7x10-11 ICA, and open RTBs when all rods are inserted
If shutdown exceeded 15% within 1 hour, notify chemistry of TS sample requirements (2-6 hrs for RCS sample and plant vent sampling and analysis completion within 48 hrs)
Shift to appropriate IOP
If Steam Dump Load Rejection is ARMED and Steam Dump valve demand is Zero with all valves closed, then RESET Load Rejection.
