AB-CVC-0001          Loss of Charging

Entry Conditions:

Mode 1 thru 4 with:

Loss of the running Charging Pump.

Charging Pump cavitation.

Loss or reduction of Charging flow.

Failure of a Pressurizer level channel.

Failure of a Volume Control Tank level channel.

A leak in the charging supply line

Continuous Actions:

If RCS >350°F AND:
PZR level cannot be maintained >17% OR VCT level cannot be maintained >4% -
Trip | Confirm | SI | EOP-TRIP-1

Cavitation – stop running pump

Leakage – AB.RC-0001

Lose Seal Injection – AB.RCP-0001

Any RCP Seal Inlet Temp ≥ 225°F – isolate Seal Injection w/ Attachment 3

Paths:

Loss of the running Charging Pump.

Start another pump

Restore letdown

Restore PZR level to program

Charging Pump cavitation.

Stop the pump

Ensure letdown isolates

VCT level the problem?

Yes – find a charging pump to vent and put in service
or put 23 pump on RWST and shut down
or put 13 pump in service and shut down

No

Channel failure

Yes – 2CV35 to manual
Manual makeup

No – Manual makeup

Failure of a Pressurizer level channel.

Select operable channels

Restore heaters

Restore letdown

THEN take charging to Auto (never take PZR level to Auto with a mismatch)

Remove channel IAW SO.RPS-0003

Failure of a Volume Control Tank level channel.

2CV35 manual to VCT

Restore letdown

Manual makeup

Leak (if unisolable, go to AB.RC-0001)

Ensure letdown is isolated

Lower charging to minimum

Notify Rad Pro

Downstream of 2CV71?

Yes – close 2CV71 and 2CV73

No

Downstream of discharge valves 2CV55 or 2CV64?

Yes

Stop pump and close discharge valve

Initiate shutdown and cooldown

Align charging thru the BIT

Excess letdown if necessary

No

Between CCP and CV55?

Yes – switch to PDP (from RWST) and shutdown the Unit.

No –  AB.RC-0001
