Definition
He believes the weird sisters. He is connected to the supernatural. He also spends the play trying to keep dark secrets hidden.

What is the significance of the challenger's entrance?
Definition
Macbeth is first introduced in the very first scene where the witches talk about him. He is then discussed in the second scene. Right before his entrance in scene three, the witches exclaim that he's coming and gather in a circle and perform a chant. Bring him focus and connection to the supernatural.

What is the significance of the intruder's entrance?
Definition
The intruder's first appearance is with Duncan, and he does not talk.
He is later enters in II.3, where he and lennox are the ones to discover Duncan dead. It is noteable that he is the first to knock on the gate door, which is a symbol of hell's gate. He is the one knocking as Macbeth and Lady M kill Duncan.

- Macbeth is one of the "noblemen of scotland" = he is one of a group, and each one should have as much intricacy as Macbeth; all of them could be a Macbeth

- Big cast = levels on the set; expensive costuming
