Enlarged; Bony process projects INF from MED part (MEDIAL MALLEOLUS)

Articular surface of Medial condyle is larger than LAT condyle; concavity increased by fibrocartilaginous meniscus

·      MED and LAT  articular facets separated by the intercondyler area

Intercondylar eminence with medial and lateral tubercles

·      Bony process that projects SUP in Intercondyler area ; has medial and lateral tubercles

Anterior intercondylar area (Fossa)

ANT to Intercondyler Eminence; gives attachment to ANT Horn of MED and LAT Meniscus and to ANT Cruciate Ligament

Posterior Intercondylar Area (Fossa)

POST to Intercondyler Eminence; gives Attachment to POST Horn of MED and LAT Meniscus and POST Cruciate Ligament

Bony prominence located on ANT aspect of Tibia; INF to condyles; Insertion site for Patellar Ligament

·      PosteroMedial aspect of MED Condyle has horizontal groove from Insertion for SEMIMEMBRANEOUS muscle

Tubercle on ANT aspect of LAT condyle for distal attachment of ILIOTIBIAL BAND/TRACT [Thickening of the fascia lata (fascia of thigh) that runs along LAT aspect of thight]

Facet on posterolateral aspect of LAT condyle; participates in TIBIOFIBULAR JOINT

Border in ANT of shaft, becomes continuous w/ Medial Malleolus

rounded through most of its course on MED side

gives attachment to Interosseous membrane

subcutaneous through most of its course; gives attachment to Medial Collateral Ligament of knee joint

Upper 2/3 faces LAT and gives Partial Origin to TIBIALIS ANTERIOR

Lower 1/3 faces ANT and crossed by tendons of muscles of ANT compartment of leg

·      Begins 1-2 cm INF of Fibular Art Facet and ends near middle of MED border of shaft

Begins close to midpoint of Soleal line and runs INF and divides POST surface of shaft into Posterolateral and Posteromedial parts

Gives Partial Origin to TIBIALIS POSTERIOR muscle

Gives Origin to FLEXOR DIGITORUM LONGUS 

·      On POST surface close to soleal line and points distally

Bony prominence on MED aspect of ankle; INF end has 2 tubercles (ANT and POST colliculi); MED surface is palpable

·      On POST border of Medial Malleolus for Tendon of Tibialis Posterior 

Articular facet for SUP surface of Talus; Medially is continuous with facet of Medial Malleolus; participates in ankle joint

·      Triangular rough area w/ apex facing superiorly; gives attachment to Interosseous Tibiofibular Ligament of Distal Tibiofibular Joint (syndemoses)

Tubercles on INF end of Medial Malleoulus; separated by intercollicular groove; gives attachment to Medial Collateral (Deltoid) Ligament of Ankle joint

Groove btw ANT and POST Colliculi; ANT larger than POST
