The heirarchy of the Catholic church had become worldly and corrupt, Catholic doctrines and practices had departed from the Bible. Also, the Renaissance had introduced new ways of thinking, the printing press enabled ideas to be circulated widely. Nationalism led people to not feel as connected to Rome (the center of the Roman Catholic Church). Finally, there was an increased desire for meaningful faith. |
